Flying Dog Strikes Again!

It's a bird, it's a plane, no--it's a flying dog! The other day I caught Turner flying through the yard! I think this might be the best kept secret among dogs. Remember Baby and Bo?

Sweet Memories

I've mentioned my love for beagles several times (remember Ziggy, Bo & Shiloh?). I thought I'd introduce you to my first Beagle loves, Gracie and Pez.

In college, my best friend Jessica adopted Gracie from the pound. What a sweetheart! She had the most loving disposition and was so calm. Sometimes during walks she would be ready to go home and would just sit on the ground and not budge until we turned around. Gracie was also gorgeous! About a year into Gracie's new life with Jessica, Pez came into the picture.

Some people who lived beside a friend of mine moved out of their house and left behind a Beagle. Besides the fact that this is a horrible and disgusting thing to do, it was the dead of winter. My friend called me because I used to talk to that Beagle every time I visited. I immediately came and got him. I had no clue what I was going to do next, just that he HAD to be out of the cold. When I got there he was shivering and had a frozen water bowl. Naturally, I took him to my best friend's house! She agreed to let him stay for "just a few days" (haha).

Of course, a few days turned into the rest of his life because we soon discovered that we could never separate Gracie and Pez. They were best friends and, I believe, totally in love. I had the pleasure of living with Jessica, Gracie, and Pez for a year during college. I had so much fun photographing those two. My grandpa got me a new camera for graduation, and I spent a LOT of time practicing on my furry little muses. Sadly, both Gracie and Pez have passed away in the last few years. They will always have a special place in my heart; I'm so glad they got to spend their years with one another in a wonderful loving home. These are some of my favorite shots of them!

This is Gracie

This is Pez (deep in thought)

Gotta love that Beagle howl!

This is one of my favorite pics!

This picture is a bit blurry but I don't care. We often found them laying like this. Have you ever seen so much love on one couch? Much love to Gracie and Pez!

Happy Spring!

Humans and pups everywhere are rejoicing the official arrival of Spring! I'm sure most dogs, like Murphy, just love to sniff and taste different plants. I thought this list from ASPCA might be useful for pet owners to check out: "The Top 10 Pet Toxins of 2011" You can never be too careful where your favorite "Fuzzy Face" is concerned! Happy Spring!

Meet Shiloh and Bo

I've said it before, I'll say it again...I have a soft spot for Beagles! They have the sweetest demeanor and are always fun to be around. These two "fuzzy faces" were no exception. Shiloh is a senior dog, well into his teens, but he still has that sweet puppy gleam in his eye. His new brother Bo isn't even one year old yet. Despite their age difference, they seem to enjoy being together as much as possible...eating grass, playing with toys, and every beagles' favorite pastime, SNIFFING! Here are some of my favorite shots from our time together. Thanks for being such great models Shiloh and Bo!

I'm so bummed about the horrible background in this photo! I caught another flying dog! How hilarious is this?

(Note: I love love LOVE Murph's crooked little bottom teeth SO much!)

That's all the sticks?

Dog of the Month

Meet Reese, the Dog of the Month at Catering to Cats and Dogs (C2CND). She was saved from death row at the pound. Reese is learning how to walk on a leash and is being house broken by her foster parents. What a sweetie! Contact C2CND if you're interested in adopting Reese!

Memory Lane

It's no secret that puppies (and grown dogs too) age quickly. It's one of the most difficult parts of the canine/human relationship, but it reminds us that each moment we share with our furry friends is precious. I thought I'd take a look back at the life (so far) of my favorite "fuzzy face" Murphy the Boston Terrier!

Murphy was a gift from my husband. He came in one day and handed me a tiny black and white puppy with a gold bow around its neck! It was instant love. I'd wanted a puppy for so long and he was just perfect. These pics are of the first time I held him and our first walk! What a sweet, tiny little pup he was! We decided on the name Murphy almost immediately; a name inspired by his Boston origin and the Boston Irish band, The Dropkick Murphys.

Murphy was so tiny that we had to create a small step for him to climb up on the couch! Please excuse my unpainted toes in the background...

This was his first "binkie," given to him by his Grandma Deb. Murphy LOVES "binkies" AKA tiny bone-shaped stuffed toys that squeak!

He's always been a HUGE fan of tug-o-war!

This is one of my absolute favorite photos of Murphy. Those eyes, those lips, the ears = cuteness overload!

He was a lake dog from the start!

He absolutely adores sniffing flowers and plants. I call him "Mama's little botanist."

Then one day I turned around and he was this 4-year-old handsome, funny, and all-around wonderful dog! He adds nothing but light to our lives and I'm so thankful to have him as a best friend. Here's to many more years of slobbery kisses, puppy paws tapping down the hallway, and big smiles and stubby tail wags every time we walk through the door!
